In my experience the 690 is a bit heavier than some claim or than KTM's "claimed" weight. Sure, lighter than the DR650, but many 690's, once set up to tour, are maybe just 20 lbs. lighter than DR650. Substantial, but not the end of the world. I found the 690 quite smooth at lower RPM (up to about 65 mph).
